What we do

The charity empowers patients through information and guidance. We have a liver nurse-led helpline and a full range of liver publications covering genetic and autoimmune liver conditions as well as diet and lifestyle guidance. We help patients and families navigate their treatment and care, supporting them living with liver disease, discussing treatment options, preparing for transplant, or life post-transplant. We facilitate hundreds of patient and family support groups every year and have a very active online support community, available 24/7.

The British Liver Trust raises awareness and campaigns for improved prevention and early detection of liver damage, to address the UK liver health crisis and save lives.

Our Love Your Liver campaign includes:

The British Liver Trust’s helpline and online support groups are frequently described as a ‘lifeline’ by patients and families.

Medical travel insurance frequently asked questions

We use a medical risk assessment tool to enable us to provide you with a quote. You will be asked a number of questions about your medical status. From the information provided we will base our quotes on your health status.

Single Trip - We don't impose an upper age limit on single trip policies however the duration we can cover may vary depending on age.

Annual Multi-trip - We will cover up to and including the age of 80, for up to 31 days travel per trip. If you are under the age of 75, the trip duration can be increased to 45 days for an additional premium.

Medical questions vary from insurer to insurer so it's important to ensure you have declared any condition falling within our medical declaration. Some conditions are accounted for over the last two years, while others are assessed on a life-time basis. You'll find our declaration in your policy wording or during our quote journey.

Please note: If you are currently on a waiting list or aware of the need for surgery, tests, treatment or investigations we may be not be able to offer an insurance quote. Please call us on 01223 446 914 so we can explore cover options with you.
