Preparation, Preparation, Preparation

There’s no hiding from the fact that organising travel insurance isn’t going to be as thrilling as visiting base camp in Nepal or as glamorous as a cocktail in the Costa del Sol, but preparing your medical history prior to making the call to us is very important.

But what do you need to prepare? At Freedom, we will ask you the names of any medical conditions for which you’ve had medication, treatment or surgery, as well as anything you’ve attended a hospital or clinic for within the 2 years.

We also need to know if you have ever been diagnosed or treated for any of the following:

  • - Cancer
  • - Respiratory conditions (such as asthma or a chest infection)
  • - Heart or circulatory conditions (including blood flow, strokes, high blood pressure or cholesterol)
  • - Psychological conditions such as stress, anxiety or depression
  • - Psychiatric conditions such as eating disorders, drug or alcohol abuse or mental instability

Finally we need to know any medical conditions you currently have prescribed medication for including repeat prescriptions.

If you have a complex medical history, we suggest you make a simple list of only the names of the medical conditions.

Don’t Make Assumptions

We do need to be quite thorough with our questioning in order to capture all the information we need from you to ensure you have the right type of cover in place. It may seem a little over the top taking down your Hayfever or your Dry Eyes Syndrome, but this is part of the arrangement we have in order to be able to sell our insurance policies.

Let us decide what information is or isn't necessary for your insurance!

Time Flies

Our dedicated team are trained to act in a timely manner and make your quotation process as painless as possible.

The time needed will vary depending on the nature of your medical history, but it can take anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour with most screenings completed in under 10 minutes. There are some more complex medical situations that will need a longer time to discuss to ensure we’re offering you a policy that ticks every box for your needs, after all that’s why we’re here!
